Yearly Family Photos

One of the best things about having family photos taken is looking back to see how your family grew and changed: babies became toddlers, kids, and then teens; hair was worn short, long, or disappeared; clothing ranged from bell bottoms to leggings or mini skirts.

As photographers, we get the joy of seeing these changes not just in our own families but also in the families that give us the privilege of taking their yearly family photos. We love the opportunity to get to know our clients over the years and to share in their life milestones.

We took this photo last year:

Here she is again, a year later:

When we returned to take photos this year, we learned that there was a new member of the family:

Look at that proud big sister:

And the whole happy family:

Our favorite photo of the shoot, however, might be this one of mom and dad, exhausted, but still smiling and in love:

Say No to Sears - St. Louis Family Photos of Addison, Spencer, Andrew, Rachel, and Michael

Say no to Sears!

There, I've said it.

Most couples wouldn't consider heading to Sears when looking for a wedding photographer. However, so many opt for Sears (and similar studio locations) to capture their children as they grow. Working with a professional photographer on location gives you a chance to record memories of your family being yourselves in a natural setting (no fake backdrops needed!).

We're glad Addison, Spencer, Andrew, and their parents Rachel and Michael said no to Sears and chose the backdrop of Longview Farm Park in Town and Country for their family photos. We'd never taken pictures there before and we loved the location. We'll be back!

We hope you enjoy looking at their photos as much as we enjoyed taking them!

St. Charles Wedding Photography: Diana and David

Weather in St. Louis can make having an outdoor wedding tricky. However, as long as you have a backup plan, don't let the risks scare you away from some of the many beautiful outdoor wedding settings in the St. Louis metropolitan area. One of the many perks of an outdoor wedding (that you may not have considered) is the enhanced quality of your photos - natural light will always give the best wedding photos. Even if you have an indoor wedding, consider scheduling some time in your day to go outside for photos.

Diana and David had their outdoor wedding at the St. Charles Vintage House. The green backgrounds really made their wedding photos pop (not to mention the joy on their faces and some adorable little girls)!

Congrats, Diana and David! We had a great time working with you and wish you a sunny future!

St. Louis Engagement Photography in Lafayette Square: Emma and Travis

Emma and Travis's engagement session in St. Louis's Lafayette Square had two things that made it extra special:
  1. The timing of their engagement photography - The breathtaking colored leaves of St. Louis's Fall presented an ideal backdrop for their photos. Brides and Grooms, start thinking now about when you would like your engagement session. If you can't wait until Fall, the flowers of early Spring are also a fantastic choice!
  2. The length of their engagement photo session - All of our wedding packages come with a one hour engagement session, but Emma and Travis wanted a little something extra and booked a second hour. In that second hour, they had more time to get comfortable being in front of the camera and we explored different settings around Lafayette Square.

We can't wait to shoot Emma and Travis's wedding, and we are also looking forward to working closely with Dodson Events, their wedding planners!
